Bawcro began with Gritworks, the gritting business James founded to keep local sites safe through harsh Yorkshire winters. Starting with a single truck and one route, he worked night after night to ensure car parks, yards and access roads stayed clear of ice and snow.
That single route grew into a full 24/7 operation, monitoring road surface temperatures and gritting proactively based on data rather than guesswork. Today, that work continues as Bawcro Snow & Gritting Services.
Later, James joined forces with his best friend Andy to launch Bawcro Pest & Vermin Control, delivering BPCA-compliant pest control. Together, they created a discreet, professional service for farms, estates, warehouses and commercial sites, helping clients stay safe and legally compliant.
From those early days to the creation of Bawcro Group, the business has grown but our values remain the same: reliability, quality and straight-talking communication you can trust.
Bawcro Snow & Gritting Services
Our gritting division is dedicated to keeping your site operational and safe through winter. We follow Met Office forecasts, use our own weather forecast software and road temperature sensors to grit before ice forms – not just when it feels cold.
